  • Participants without a chip:     at 10 PM on Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Rules:

  1. La Cursa El Corte Inglés is an on-foot race, open to all.
  2. The route is 11 kilometers long through the streets of Barcelona. The distance is officially recognized by the Federació Catalana d’Atletisme.
  3. There are two options for participation:
    • Athletes who have a chip (it's yellow)
    • General public
  4. The race will depart from Pl.Catalunya/Passeig de Gràcia.
    • The participants with a chip, placed on their trainers, will join the departure line on Pg. de Gràcia, where there will be an exclusive access point at calle Casp.
    • The participants without a chip will join at Pl.Catalunya. In both cases, they will be equiped and provided with their own number, to wear on their chest.
  5. The race will depart at 9.30 AM on Sunday, May 18, 2008.
  6. The finish line will be in the centre of Pl. Catalunya. Control of arrivals will close at 12 PM.
  7. Registration is free and must be done in person:
    • At any El Corte Inglés (Pl.Catalunya - Portal de l'Àngel - Diagonal -Francesc Macià - Can Dragó - Sabadell - Cornellà) or in the Hipercor Meridiana.

  8. The registration deadlines will be:
    • On the Internet: at 10 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2008.
    • In the department stores:
      • Athletes with a chip: at 10 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2008.
      • General public: at 10 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
  9. Each participant will be given a number, on the back of which each participant must note their identification details and the alergies they suffer. Participants with a chip should indicate the seven-character code on their registration form.
  10. Only those participants who start, respect the appointed circuit and cross the finish lines will be incluided.
  11. The oficial time, used for classifications is the time between the firing of the start shot and the moment in which the participant crosses the finish line. However, the participants with a chip can receive their real time, which has taken place between leaving the starting point and crossing the finish line, but this will not be considered their official time.
  12. The Corte Inglés will award a total of 156 trophies for the first three qualified athletes with a chip and from the general public, in the men's and women's categories, divided into thirteen age groups:
    • Born after de 1997
    • Born between 1949 and 1958
    • Born between 1995 and 1997
    • Born between 1939 and 1948
    • Born between 1992 and 1994
    • Born between 1933 and 1938
    • Born between 1989 and 1991
    • Born between 1929 and 1932
    • Born between 1979 and 1988
    • Born between 1923 and 1928
    • Born between 1969 and 1978
    • Nacidos before de 1923
    • Born between 1959 and 1968

    The first person qualified in the men's category and the first person qualified in the women's category will also obtain the "City of Barcelona Trophy", awarded by City Hall.

  13. The trophies will be handed out at a time and place not yet designated.
  14. All of the participants who finish the race will receive a diploma for having participated, that they can collect from the same El Corte Inglés where they collected their number (those who signed up in Pl. Catalunya must collect it in Portal de l'Àngel) between June 2-14, 2008, from 10AM to 10PM, upon presenting their registration receipt.
  15. On the diploma, El Corte Inglés will include: the name of the participant, their official time, general classification and classification within thier age group. The athletes with a chip will also be given their real time.
  16. La Cursa El Corte Inglés will take place with the advice and the vigilance of the Sporting and Municiple Authorities.  Control will be carried out by the Guardia Urbana police force.  The Red Cross will be in charge of medical assistance.  Upon registering, participants will be given appropriate medical advice.  Voluntaris 2000 will provide their valuable colaboration.
  17. Minors will only be able to participate with parental authorization and under their responsibility.
  18. Neither El Corte Inglés, nor any of the other organizations mentioned, will be responsable for accidents or illnesses caught or aggravated during la Cursa, or for injuries that participants or third parties may suffer.
  19. The only vehicles authorized to follow the event are the organization's. Vehicles or mobile elements of any type, that do not belong to the organization, are strictly prohibited.
  20. Participating in the event implies acceptance of these rules and of the decisions made by the organization in cases not taken into account in these rules.
