RUN WITH A CHIP
The Barcelona event, in spite of its festive and multitudinous nature, has never renounced precision and control in all of its organizational aspects and it has always been under the guidance of the Catalan Athletics Federation (Federación Catalana de Atletismo).
During this edition and with the desire for renewal current times require, the classic direrenciation between federated and non federated runners has been eliminated and two new unique categories have been created: athletes with a chip and athletes without a chip.
In this way, the Cursa El Corte Inglés combines the festive participation of the general public with the rigorous and intensive practice of amateur sports. More than ever the event is open to all kinds of participants and it also facilitates the presence of those amateur athletes that require certain control measures in their sporting practice and that are not usual for the ocasional athlete.
The registration deadline for athletes with a chip will be from April 15 to May 15, 2008 and during these dates, in the sports departments of El Corte Inglés and Hipercor department stores, yellow chips can be acquired (owned by the participant).
The official time, used for classification, is between the firing of the start shot and the moment the participant crosses the finish line. However, participants with a chip can get their real time, that is calculated from the moment they leave the start line and when they cross the finish line, but this will not be considered as their official time.
The participants with a chip, placed on their trainers, will join the departure line on Pg. de Gràcia, where there will be an exclusive access point at calle Casp. They must always be equiped and be wearing their number on their chest.
