A RACE WITH SOCIAL AWARENESS

> La Cursa and the Creu Roja

The 30th Cursa El Corte Inglés reinforces its clearly social character and joins forces with the Red Cross for this edition.

The Red Cross of Catalonia is a humanitarian institution that has worked with and attended to the most disadvantaged groups in our society for over 140 years: the elderly, disabled people, refugees and foreigners, infants and youths at risk, women with social difficulties, drug addicts, people with AIDS.  It has an important social base: 160,000 members, 14,000 volunteers, a thousand workers, and it is present in 150 places within Catalan territory.

It is part of the International Red Cross Movement and the Red Crescent Federation, the largest network of humanitarian assistance in the world that is currently present in 185 countries and with more than 100 million members.  Its mission is to work with and for the most vulnerable people, within Catalonia, Spain and internationally.

The Red Cross carries out each of its actions applying the 7 fundamental principals that define its philosophy: Humanity, Imparciality, Neutrality, Independence, of a Voluntary nature, Unity and Universality.
